Safety and materials

How it is built

• No small parts. The body is a single moulded shell with nothing to unscrew and nothing that pulls off. The story discs are 60 mm across — far wider than the small-parts test cylinder used for toys.
• Sealed battery. There is no battery door, no coin cell and nothing a child can prise open. It charges over USB-C, and that is the only opening in the shell.
• Capped volume. The ceiling is built into the hardware rather than set in software, so there is no setting, gesture or combination that gets past it.
• Rounded everywhere. There is no edge on the object sharp enough to matter, which is a consequence of the shape rather than a feature we added afterwards.
• No microphone, no camera, no radio. It cannot listen to your house, and it has nothing to connect to. The stories are on the discs.

Materials

Shell	Moulded ABS with a soft-touch finish. No sprayed coating that can chip or flake.
Story discs	Birch plywood with a chamfered edge, printed with water-based inks.
Speaker panel	Woven polyester, bonded around the full perimeter rather than spot-glued.
Packaging	Uncoated recycled board. No plastic window, no expanded foam.

Age guidance

Three to six. Younger children manage the gesture happily but lose the thread of a longer story. Older children tend to want to choose for themselves in a way that a physical disc cannot satisfy.
